Following up on conversations at the picnic yesterday:
On Challenge Day, Friday, June 8 – All Kindergarten classes come in the AM. The main Cheyenne calendar indicates For Grades K-2: Events run from 9:45AM-12:00PM The specific schedule is determined by the Challenge Day committee. Based on what happened last year, all the Kindergartners met in the MPR, then went to Challenge activities around 9:30-11. There is usually a pizza lunch in the cafeteria, then the Kindergarten students are dismissed. K Plus students (whether AM or PM) may go to Plus that afternoon. Event Rain Date is Monday, June 11. I'm sad to have to tell you that my Moter In Law Claris Osborne Died Saturday. She is laying in peace at Will and Schwarzkoff funeral home. The address is 233 Northbound Gratiot. Visitation : 2 - 8 pm on Tuesday afternoon and evening. Funeral service at funeral at the funeral home is 1;00. Doors will open at 12 for final viewing prior to service. Thank you for keeping my family expecally my husband in your thought and prayers.
The May newsletter, homework calendar and June 6 field trip info (overview and permission slip, not chaperone and K+ info) has been added to the website. The docs are loaded as jpg because the pdf maker wasn't working properly. You can find the calendar and newsletter under Our Classroom, then Updates. You can find the field trip info under Our Classroom, then Field Trips. Thanks!
The May newsletter and homework calendar went home today. It is going to be a very busy month. The homework activities I gave are similar to what the children will need to do on the district wide assessment. I have probably given very similar things in the past to prepare them, but I really want all the information fresh in their minds. Our kids are so smart I don't think anyone needs to worry! I did not include one assignment sheet today. I am creating one for the one to one correspondence activity and haven't been happy with what I have seen so far. I like creativity and try to have it match with our theme. Sometimes notes and such get placed in your child's folder, but somewhere between class and home it gets lost. Please just let me know if you need another copy of something or you feel you did not receive all the papers. I'll tell you about our centers tomorrow. Have a good evening.
I am still trying to learn how to upload and link my newsletters, calendars, curriculum guides, etc. by my self. I have yet to be successful. I will need Claudette to help me again! God Bless Her! Keep checking the web site because you never know when or what will appear
I know I haven't had time to update my blog recently. Sorry! We have been working on our outer space unit. The kids have had a "blast"! In the I Wonder Zone we made a chemical reaction by mixing vinager and baking soda together in a pop bottle and the resulting gas blew up a balloon. It acturally launched one day, poped, and leaked all to the joy of the children and parent helpers. At Numberlicious we make rockets out of shapes and and then cut out numbers to glue next to it in reverse order and wrote "Blast Off" next to it. Express Yourself was making a sun and a glittery star to be used for music next week. At the Write-On center the children wrote space sentences. And finally at game on and book worm we read our Raz-Kids books and the children made an alien door hanger. A special note went home today about a very exciting activity we will be doing on Tuesday as our culmanating activity. Make sure you check your child's folder. Please excuse any typo's. I type fast and this doesn't have spell check. I hope you understand. I hope to see many of you on Tuesday!
Thank you to everyone that attended parent teacher conferences. I love talking to parents. 10 minutes for kindergarteners is just not enough time, so if you had to wait I really appreciated your patience. Please remember you can talk to me any time about your child not just at conferences.
We are starting to go to the computer lab once a week. The am classes are going on Wednesday's at 10:00 and the PM class is going Mondays at 1:45. I need to change the weekly center schedule. We will now being doing centers on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday for both the AM and PM classes. I will gladly take helpers any day of the week. There is always something to do. I am also changing the way I do "Book Worm". I have added it as a center and work with a small group at a time. When I'm done reading with them they will get to go to "Build It", "Game On", or "Acting Up". Please have your children return their bag with the "Book Worm" books that I have sent home. I can change up the books more often now. Cheyenne has purchased a membership to Raz-kids.com. It is a web site you can go to at home as well as teachers using it at school. Currently I do not have enough licenses for all 46 of my students. I'm not sure why the other kindergarten classes received enough and I didn't, but we are working to resolve this situation. The books available on this site matches better with the reading assessment we have to do in May for all of the children. I'm printing some of those to use in class instead of the books I have been sending home. These are the books I will be sending home with the children. The color printer is located in the library, so it will take some time for me to get enough printed and put together to send home. Just know it is coming! Also, IXL math has been purchased for our school to use. I've been trying since November to get access to all of these sites and it is finally happening. I will be sending a note home with the required passwords for both the Raz-kids and math site as soon as I get all the licenses. More tomorrow! Mrs. Osborne |
Mrs. OsborneI'm devoted to making sure your children have fun while learning in Kindergarten. As a CMU alumni, I may also try to persuade them that CMU is a great place to go to college! Archives
